About the John Bell Hood Historical Society:
The John Bell Hood Historical Society (JBHHS) was founded in November
2003 for the purposes of recovering, restoring and preserving the
honorable legacy of Gen. John Bell Hood, CSA.
The mission of the JBHHS shall be:
1) To identify, chronicle and archive
writings and recorded history that relate to Gen. Hood, the man
and the soldier.
2) To acquire and erect historical memorials
and monuments which recognize and honor his military services with
the United States and Confederate States armies.
3) To serve the study of history by educating
present and future generations of the life and career of Gen. Hood.
4) To perform educational activities such
as tours, seminars, symposiums, conferences, and to publish and
distribute literature, brochures, pamphlets, books, audio tapes
and videos that relate to the life and career of Gen. Hood.
5) To identify false, malicious, and/or
erroneous portrayals of Gen. Hood in literature and other media,
and to respectfully and intellectually expose and challenge such
portrayals.
